How to get and support local news?

What are the best subscriptions to support local news reporting? I’d like to buy only one subscription and am open to paper but obviously prefer digital. Just trying to support local business and principled journalism, especially in these crazy times.

Browsing past posts, it looks like the Tribune, sun times, and block club are highly recommended though there are some criticisms of each. I was hoping for one that gives both local and national/international news.
