Cat got crown amputation- feel duped.

My cat had a resorbed tooth and the doctor told me they recommended that we extract it under anesthesia. She has been acting totally normally, playing and eating fine and exhibits no sign of discomfort. We did that today and she got a crown amputation since the entire root was already gone so only the tip was there and the nurse said if we left it alone it probably would have just fully resorbed. So now I feel duped. I could have done nothing and it could have resolved itself. What’s the point of a traumatic anesthetic procedure?
