Bilateral luxating patellas

Not asking for med advice, my vet is suggesting that my cat has bilateral luxating patellas we have a consultation to discuss surgery and to confirm with x rays set. Curious about anyone else’s experience with luxating patella, what was the surgery and recovery like for your cat? Is there anything you wish you knew before hand? (For context my cat is around 11 months old so we caught it early and it seems like there probably isn’t any long term damage like arthritis one we fix the issue with surgery)
