So is book three just none cannon

So I just got done reading book three and started book four and it seems like they just completely dropped the demon dark passenger bit and when they bring up Cody again they don’t mention at all how he literally killed somebody in the last book I thought the magic demon bit was pretty interesting but I’m guessing others didn’t.
