LVP buckling
Hi all! Looking for some advice on why this might be happening. We built a new home in 2020 and have these LVP floors (Shaw Floorte Pro 5 series) in the whole house. In one particular place the floor is buckling, which leads to the edges getting worn and torn up. This happened within 18 months of moving in and the builder told us it was a problem they had seen multiple times in this particular location. They thought it was because of direct sunlight coming in the sliding door, but that's north facing and gets no direct sun. They replaced the flooring once thinking it could have been an install problem (not enough edge gap) but now it has happened again!
The builder and installer insist this is normal wear and tear and due to their being a table and chairs here. I know they don't want to be responsible for it, but we're not even asking for that-- just the answer on how to fix it so it doesn't happen again in 18 months. I get that the chair dragging chips up the edges, but is it the cause of the buckling? Everyone always says buckling== moisture but there's no visible water in the area and the crawlspace below is dry. The HVAC system and a crawlspace dehumidifier are directly below this area.
We have ordered a rug and will replace this area of flooring again and then put the rug down, but I'm concerned this still won't solve the problem. Could we possibly need an additional moisture barrier of some sort between the HVAC system and the insulation/subfloor? Any suggestions would be appreciated!
