The Hunger Games movies are so clever in the way they breach the book to screen gap
I think the main reason THG movies are so good even for book readers is because they come up with such good ways to tell you what's going on besides having Jennifer Lawrence narrate everything that's happening. Katniss looking into the camera in the tree in the beginning of the movie to remind us that they're always being filmed, the little notes on the sponsor parachutes, the cuts to Claudius and Caesar live-casting the games on TV, etc. I think a lot of book to movie adaptation really fail to do this in such a seamless way that both helps movie viewers know what's going on (the show don't tell aspect of it is great too) while also keeping book readers happy.
