Should Malayali should be considered as an ethnicity?

Kashmiris belong to an ethnicity called Kasheer. I know we are mainly Dravidians+little bit Aryans(Brahmins) + little bit Middle eastern (Malabari Muslims+ Nasrani Christians). Our phenotype is literally different from rest of South India. Not in a racist sense but even our darkest can pass as an average in most of South India(especially in TN, TL, AP. Not in all part of Karnataka as their genetics are also mixed).

The Western Ghats literally stopped intermixing for centuries. Our food habits are different. Our civic sense is different. Our clannish behaviour is very less(eventhough we believe it's very high) and nothing compared to Telugus and Tamils who form their own group and not even talk to rest. And we don't worship stars.

And most importantly, we have lot of interfaith intercaste mixing. Its normal to find and extreme fair to extreme dark in a same lineage which is totally different from North where each caste looks different (especially the facial ,lip structure).

So considering all these should Malayali be an seperate ethnicity officially?. I meant officially because unofficially we act like a single ethnicity most of the time

Yours thoughts?
