Co-op vs. Internships?

I need some help convincing my parents NEU is going to be a beneficial school for me to attend. No joke, they're making me write a giant paper explaining all the reasons why it's my top choice just so I can apply to the school. I want to make a convincing argument and the co-op is a huge appeal for me but I need some help convincing them.

What makes a co-op better than an internship that I might be able to get at another school? I'm aware of the chance to make money, however I've spoken to kids in my major interest (CAMDxDMSB) and it is rare for a student to get a paid co-op because of the general patterns of the industry (not telling my parents that but steering clear of the topic of money). What are the biggest non-monetary benefits of a co-op?

Also just saw DMSB was ranked higher than CSOM at BC (my parents alma mater) and it definitely got to them. They went on a big rant on how the international program is stupid, especially for freshman. But besides that, how did DMSB/faculty/co-ops etc. help prepare you for the future or teach you valuable skills?

While I would love to apply ED, it sounds like thats a no from my parents as they would require me to be at the Boston campus first-year and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the honors program and (maybe hopefully) a Dean's scholarship because they basically refuse to pay full price (but we can). Is that still realistic if I apply EA?

TLDR: Need help convincing my parents to let me apply to NEU next year, why is co-op more valuable than internships at other schools?
