MY SWITCH 2 DIRECT PREDICTIONS *FINAL*
Ok, I’ve compiled my final revision of predictions for the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct. I hope I don’t embarrass myself. Regardless of anything I am so excited. Here goes for the final prediction:
Release Date:
• End of May–June (Leaning May)
Price:
• $350–$400 (Leaning $350)
• No bundle at launch
Launch Titles:
• Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
• New Mario Kart (Will be called 9, not 10 or X)
• Random new first-party game to be announced at the Direct
• Big shocker of a AAA third-party game
• Bunch of indie games
• Something taking big advantage of, not just using in small part, the mouse feature
More Info:
• Pokémon A-Z (Fall/Winter release date)
• Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (Launch title, cross-gen release)
Newly Announced:
• New 3D Mario (Sep/Oct 2025, Open World)
• Splatoon 4 (Summer)
• Some completely out-of-left-field, super random WTF-moment game like a niche IP revitalized or a remake no one expected
• Something about Zelda… okay, I know that’s cheap, but it could be anything—remake, remaster, BotW enhanced, I don’t know. But there will be something.
• Big games relating to the mouse feature
• Animal Crossing
• Super Smash Bros
UI & Features:
• Themes
• Improved menu layout
• New/redesigned eShop
• New chat system
• Mouse Mode (Will be called “Computer Mode” or something similar) — it will be introduced as the 4th way to playand will be made a huge deal
Hardware & Specs:
• 4K upscaling (docked), 1080p handheld
• Built-in microphones
• 128GB–256GB internal storage (Might not be announced in the Direct)
• Max 8-hour battery life (4-hour minimum)
• LCD display (Might not be announced in the Direct)
• The “C” Button (Will relate to Computer Mode or whatever they call it. 50/50 chance it will also relate to the new chat feature, but regardless, both of these things will get big reveals.)
Misc:
• Enhanced versions of games (A way of having older games take advantage of the new hardware)
Direct Structure:
• There will be a complete change in how the Direct flows to introduce the new format for the Switch 2 generation.
• Greater visuals and enhanced pacing—everything will feel much more advanced and smooth.
• The Direct will begin with a big reveal—not with a verbal intro like “Have a look at this,” but just kicking off the show immediately.
• There will be appearances from developers of the major AAA third-party titles. No niche indie games presented—just banger after banger with hardware/software reveals either throughout or right at the beginning.
• The price and release date will be kept for later—it won’t be mentioned at the beginning like in the Switch 1 presentation.
