Use of surrogate keys
I've been too busy lately to take the time to create surrogate keys for my data models to surprisingly, no noticeable effect. Are surrogate keys used in the wild. I am asking the question because 'Guys in a Cube' suggest it, basic database modelling theory suggests it. Yet in the real world I've seen it zero times amongst my co-horts. And we're working with 500k row fact tables. Up to this point I thought I was the only one doing things right. Now I'm not so sure
I'm seeing different feedback when searching this subreddit.
So.. I'm just kinda curious...do developers utilize surrogate keys in the real world.
