I believe Irv is still in grave danger/going to get killed off
So there are two shots when Burt is dropping Irving off that struck me as quite ominous.
The first is him leaving the station building, where he opens the door shrouded by a warm, angelic light. Obviously, typically in media portrayals “going toward the light” is a euphemism for dying, and the light being so Heavenly in its appearance doesn’t help.
Next, we see Burt in the waiting area looking contemplative and IMO regretful and pennant) and it’s framed such that the benches look like rows of pews. It’s almost although he’s stumbled into a church to ask forgiveness.
Someone also pointed out we cut to the train at the moment iDylan is going up the elevator out of Lumon, aka the moment iDylan takes the final step toward his own life ending, which feels like fairly intentional timing.
These shots alone made me wonder, and I think in the context of their characters - Burt being a Lumon lifer who has done terrible things for the company in the past - this makes more sense than him doing a sudden U-turn seemingly out of nowhere. He even says he just drove people places previously and never knew what happened to them after that, with him making a similar comment to Irv about “I can’t know where you get off the train.”
This all leads me to believe Irv is in severe danger. I’m not sure if someone followed Irv onto the train or Drummond planted something that made Lumon able to track him, but I have a very bad feeling about his outcome in E9.
