I'm loving this city so much
I made a post here before detailing how I was a transplant from Toronto. I didn't know what to expect of Saint Louis since it's been demonized so much, but I truly am finding this city to be a hidden gem. For starters, the people. Why is everyone so nice and warm? Coming from Toronto where everyone is miserable and hostile, I'm finding the people here to be a breath of fresh air. I'm making friends easily, and the strangers I see on the street are welcoming, polite and educated. People keep to themselves to not make you feel uncomfortable, but I have not had many bad stares like I used to get on the regular in Toronto.
St Louis gives me a "town" vibe if that makes sense, which I love because it reminds me of Ottawa where I used to live in college in many ways.
I also love the variety of food options and how walkable the city is. I'm staying in North Hampton, and walking here is a breeze because of the wide pathways with good access to the bus system, which has surprisingly been very reliable in the timing and also quite clean.
Also, the city is generally clean. Sure, the infrastructure is old and could use remodeling in certain areas, but to me it feels like the locals take pride in taking care of the city. One thing that I did notice when I arrived is that it gets pretty dark at night as there aren't many light poles.
Lastly, the prices here are nowhere near as high as in Toronto, and the pace of life is slower.
I'm loving it here and thank you for making the city so welcoming for immigrants and transplants, I look forward to seeing it grow more and attract more people to make this place even more vibrant.
