Is recreational sex a legitimate hobby?

I was just thinking about this earlier. Im reading Satyricon, an ancient novel by Petronius Arbiter, and casual sex is a major theme in this novel. There's not much of a plot other than these two blokes, Encolpius and Ascyltos just running around fornicating folks.

I have done recreational sex before, it decompresses me, some times the person can be a bit boring and bland, but that's with everything in life.

Some people love going out to restaurants, others love sports, can we say that recreational sex is a hobby? I mean there are plenty of sex shops for a reason right? Every large town in the Western world has some sort of Swingers community, we can even point to ancient India for such practices as well, not to mention ancient Greece.

So since this seems like a relatively universal habit, can't we say that recreational casual sex is a hobby?
