Easy to grind for characters?

So I'm currently installing the game and all I really know it's a hoyo game and it's a gacha. So I was wondering is a hard game to grind for currency to gacha characters? Like I know for sure there's moments I would want to spend money if I really like a character but overall is it like super duper grindy for currency and if so is it easy to get currency and does it keep you entertained?
