The Colisée de Québec, more recently known as the Colisée Pepsi, will soon be demolished. The Marchand administration is deciding on the future of the amphitheater, which has been unused for a decade.

In an interview on the morning show Première Heure, municipal councilor Mélissa Coulombe-Leduc confirmed the information published in Le Soleil on Monday.

After years of reflection, the president of Expocité affirms that the City analyzed all possible options before making this decision.

In place of the Colisée, the City wants to propose a mixed, concrete and structuring real estate project for the neighborhood, which would include housing. Mélissa Coulombe-Leduc estimates that the structure will be dismantled over a period of two years. The costs associated with the operation will exceed $20 million. The longer we wait, the more expensive it will be, both technically and environmentally.

Built in 1949, expanded in 1980, the Colisée de Québec was the home of several renowned sports clubs in Québec, including the As, the Citadelles, the Remparts and the Nordiques.
