Do all 2nd gen Honda fits have the loosening spark plugs issue?
I’ve been scouting to buy a second generation Honda fit and noticed that a big problem in these was the loosening of the spark plugs and eventual ejection if you didn’t check the torque. This would cause damage to the cylinder head and need of a new engine or cylinder head. Supposedly even after torquing down the plugs to the correct spec, they still loosen up over time, which seems like a design flaw more than anything to me.
Is this issue common? I’m worried about having to constantly be checking the torque on all spark plugs if I do end up buying a fit, especially since it seems pretty difficult to get back there to have access to them. I just want a worry free experience with owning one but may back off from buying one if rechecking the torque on spark plugs constantly is part of the routine in owning one. Can anyone chime in their experience with this specific issue? Is this an issue that should deter someone from buying a second gen fit?
