How can I buy a house?
Hi all,
A bit of background on my situation. I (23M) have been with my girlfriend (23F) about 3.5 years at this point and we both live at our parents house. I just finished college and working full time abroad in Vienna, flying home every 10 days.
I make around 35k a year and a bonus of 1400 each month as living allowance for Vienna (the only reason I’m here tbh). I pay my parents rent and have other necessary expenses which in total equates to around 700 euro. I put basically all my money away but I still want to enjoy my life too.
My girlfriend is a teacher and makes roughly around the same as me minus the living allowance (not certain exactly how much)
The title is slightly misleading. I am wondering how can we move in together and also save for a house?
Is renting a feasible option while saving for a deposit / mortgage etc. Or do we need a different plan of living with our parents for longer?
We both live in East Meath / North Dublin so I am curious as to what the best options are going forward.
Thank you in advance!
Edit: I have seen a lot of responses saying to rent first, which I realise I should have been more clear. I will be renting with her, ideally, this year. That was always part of my plan. At that point we will assess our situation and try and figure out a way of saving for a deposit and house etc. However my main goal of this post was to ask, what is the best thing to do in my situation to save for a house in the future. I am not going out today and applying for a mortgage and buying next week. I’m simply trying to get a hold on my finances and see what the option is for myself going forward.
Thank you
