Husband in need of advice

My (35) wife (30) and I are celebrating our 10 year anniversary and I want to get her an upgrade ring. She really wants an emerald or oval cut diamond. I am looking to go for a 4 carat stone that I will set at my jeweller.

My question is: should I go lab grown or natural? Obviously there will be an insane price difference and my wife has said I should go for lab grown because no one would be able to tell the difference.

Personally, I feel like lab grown diamonds are money in the trash since they hold no value, but I know diamonds in general don’t really hold value. I’m torn. I love her very much and she deserves the best, so I just want to get her something she will love and be able to pass down to our kids one day.

Additional info: I make a decent living but this would definitely be something I need to save up for (if I go the natural route) as I estimate it would cost around $60k for a good quality 4 ct stone.
