NHS Kai: Gra Valkans indigenous tactical missile development (AAM, SAM, ASM, ATGM, MANPADS,...)

The Gra Valkans possess a diverse arsenal of guided missiles that are clearly in widespread use. This would lead to speculation how far their future developments could go?

They are known to have at least one AAM model, the Smaragd-M, an semi-active radar homing air-to-air missile. I think it won't take them too long for them to come up with/show us an infrared guided missile model - I mean, the next generation of fighters is coming and they might bring other surprises. It is still too early, however, to talk about an active radar-guided air-to-air missile model - they are simply out of their current reach.

So far, the only SAM model they have is the Azurit dual-purpose missile launcher - as the name suggests, it can be used against surface targets, although it is still unclear whether it can fire two types of missiles for two different roles or if it can only fire a single multi-role missile model. Its enormous size - originally intended to intercept Kain's high-altitude strategic bombers - precludes its use on smaller warships except for the Grade Atlaster-class super dreadnought (though it probably doesn't matter when install it on the ground). They also certainly less effective against tactical flying targets that were smaller and more maneuverable. The immediate goal will be to research new systems that are smaller, more suitable to counter tactical targets and easier to manufacture to equip other smaller warships, as well as for land-based air defense units.

The problem is that they don't have any ASM models yet. I'm not too strange about this - in real life, it takes about 15 years for the first technically complete ASM to enter mass service (P-15 Termit). I think sooner or later they will find out about it.

And no, ATGM and MANPADS will still be a story in the distant future for them. This is going to be difficult and time consuming.
