Ryzen 9 5900X with 4070 Ti Super?
I have a PC with AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, 32 GB RAM, a Zotac RTX 2060 (6 GB VRAM), and a 1440p display. I am satisfied with my build overall, though it's starting to show it's age is some games. This has been quite prominent when I hook up the PC to my 4K TV.
So, I am thinking about upgrading. I am not ready to commit to a brand new PC as I don't play high demanding games (shout out to Civ 6 fans!), and I think the CPU is still quite decent overall.
I was thinking about upgrading the GPU only, but I have a few questions:
- I was checking out the RTX 4070 Ti Super (16 GB of VRAM). Should this be enough for a 4K display? How future proof the RTX 4070 Ti Super is?
- Do you think if that is a good pairing with my CPU?
- If yes, should I just go for the cheapest one I can find, or are there any definitive go-to and no-go brands? I've read quite a bit about a coil whine but wasn't able to make any conclusive decisions.
- Finally, the 50 series is around the corner. Would it be realistic to expect the 40 series cards price to drop (did that even happen to 30 series when the 40 was introduced)? Is it more strategic to shell out for the 50 series immediately and upgrade the rest of the PC down the line?
Decisions, decisions. Thanks everybody!
