Record creation without modal?

Hi,

Getting myself confused about this - I’ve been asked by a user if it’s possible to create a ‘full’ new record without the modal dialog popup, ie when someone presses the new button in a related list view, we go straight to a full new ‘standard’ record page.

The object we’re writing the new record to has a lightning page layout, but I don’t seem to be able to get this to work without a modal?

Is this just the way it is or am I misunderstanding something? Modals are fine in 99% of instances, but this is the 1% where we’d never want to see it.
