Addressing CodeTorch's Controversy

I was never planning on posting this but due to the amount of controversy that my previous post has created, I think it’s time to address a few things. (Original Post: Link)

First and Foremost

A sincere thank you to the ~220 people who upvoted the original post. Your support means a lot.

On the other hand not everyone responded positively, and that's okay. I understand not supporting my project, but dms like "go f myself" (the 4 of you know who you are) are unnecessary and uncalled for. I'm open to criticism, just please keep it respectful.

The Purpose of CodeTorch

Let me be clear about CodeTorch’s intent:

  1. CodeTorch was originally created as a platform for sharing TurboWarp projects with greater flexibility than Scratch, for example the 10,000 cloud limit compared to Scratch’s 256. (that what I spent the 3 years on, Torchy only took the last 3 months)
  2. Torchy isn't about writing Projects for you. As u/NovelCompetition7075 put it:

They’re just overreacting because they hate AI. Let's say a beginner wants to make a scrolling screen. They could watch a tutorial, but they might not understand why it works or struggle to implement it. Instead, they could ask the AI helper, get code suggestions, understand how it works, and apply it to their own project.

And as u/dnsm321 put it:

So many arbitrary rules. You must not use AI. You must do things a specific way (heaven forbid people have free will). ...It can be a great tool to help people learn what code does, how it works, and why blocks are arranged in certain ways. It’s not just about generating code with text. Lazy people will always try to cut corners, but blaming AI for that is like blaming a grocery store for someone stealing its produce.

If you’re not a fan of the AI features, that’s completely fine. You can still use CodeTorch for its original purpose, to share your TurboWarp projects with others for free.

To those who sent messages of support telling me to ignore the negative comments Thank you, I genuinely appreciate it

PS: I'm not even the first person to try to add AI into Scratch, their is literally a "GPT" dedicated to it, and someone created something called "stax.fun" a while back, while both are terrible compared to Torchy, it shows that it was going to happen regardless so stop whining
