Inconsistencies in what innies know and do not know is a little annoying

So we're supposed to believe they know what a gardener is and that there are no such thing as night gardeners.

We're supposed to believe that they know and can identify a seal.

They know what ice is, waterfall is, tents are, marshmallows are.

Supposedly they also know about states in the U.S. and many more facts about the world and can identify images with nouns (like seal example)
But at the same time we're supposed to believe that they don't know what the sky is and how it looks like?

I mean I get that it's cool and interesting to have innies not know things about the outside world, but using it selectively is kind of annoying.
