Jackie Jr
Been a fan of the show since the second season aired when I was kid, season 3 is by far my favorite. I believe Jackie Jr was t g e resist of failed parenting and half-assed mentoring.
Jackie sr. and rosalie: From what meadow tells us Jackie sr was an absentee father at best like Tony, so no real guidance there. Rosalie I'm assuming was the most present in his life but as we see from a few episodes she spoiled and enabled him,"the poor kid lost his father", so he's allowed to be an irresponsible, lazy asshole?
Tony and Ralph: I admire Tony earnest attempts to keep Jackie out of the life and honor his dead friends wishes that being said you have to accept a childe for who they are and do your best to guide them on the path that's best for them. We see multiple times with Jackie and even AJ that he expects boys to fit a certain criteria of manhood and when they they don't he's either dismissive or tried to bully them into fitting that mold. It's very clear early on that school and Jackie did not mix well and he wanted to be in the life. Now instead of sitting Jackie down, and treating him like a young man, Tony keeps trying to force him to do what his father wanted, treating him like a child. Tony even could have taken it upon himself to be a mob mentor to Jackie, he was clearly going to do what he wanted so why not guide the boy and keep him from getting fucked up.
Ralphie: well I actually think Ralph did genuinely dod care for Jackie Jr and wanted to be a mentor to him put his efforts were very half-assed.
Now by no means am I accusing the lies, manipulation, laziness and lack of accountability that he had but I think if the adults in his life had actually parented him we would seen this life take a different turn, at the very least he wouldn't have gotten shot in the head in boonton.
