Been playing 7 months, ditched the woods and had my first “good” round on a full 18
Previously I’d try to use my driver off the tee and 5 wood on the fairway. I’d inevitably top/shank/duff it
Today I decided to play only irons and my putter, using my 6 to tee off and hit down the fairways and then whatever shorter irons the situation called for
I still had a few bad shockers but literally took 24 shots off my previous best coming in 45 over par and having my first game that would qualify for a modern handicap
I had several holes that I totally messed up for 8’s and 9’s but also hit a par, 4 bogeys and a bunch of doubles and triples
It was a simple links style course with a par of 64 and know that 45 over isn’t actually a particularly good score in general but I had a great day not playing multiple rescue shots every hole, and I feel like I’ll definitely be able to break 100 on it within the next couple of months
