I know family is usually seen as blood connections and bonds, but is that really family? Isn't the family you choose and value the most true family?

How would you define family as a concept or a relationship, E.g is it all about blood, just the connections you feel, those you want to spend your life with or those who care the most about you. What's your personal definition for what family is to you and why it's important?
